The 2015-2016 academic year saw our first cohort of Year 6 pupils take the national tests for 11 year olds.  It was also the first year of the DfE's new, significantly more challenging tests for both Key Stage 1 and 2.  We couldn't have been more proud of the way our pupils conducted themselves.  They took everything in their stride knowing they had worked hard, were well prepared and proud of their achievments since joining our school family.

Despite being our first national tests for Key Stage 2, our moderated teacher assessments have consistently shown that pupils make more progress the longer they have been with us.

Below is a summary of our official school results and comparisions with other schools.  More information can also be found in the DfE Performance Tables and OfSTED reports.

End of Key Stage 2 Results for 2016

At the end of Key Stage 2 (Year 6) there were 12 pupils on roll with each pupil representing 8%.  Unfortunately, none of our pupils had been with us for very long having previously attended other schools both locally and further afield - some from other countries.

Reading

St Michael’s was in line with the Peterborough average for attainment (the standards reached) but below the National average. The average scaled score for our pupils was 101 (with 100 being the expected standard). Progress measures show that we were above both the Paterborough and National averages.

National & Local Comparisons

St Michael’s performed above both the Peterborough and National averages in all subjects areas for pupils working at the expected standard.

We also performed above the National average in Writing and Mathematics for those pupils working at greater depth.

Phonics Results for 2016

Achievement at the end of both Year 1 and those that take the phonics screening test in Year 2, continues to be very good.

Year 181%
Year 297%
* Percentage of pupils reaching the required standard.

National & Local Comparisons

St Michael’s consistently out-performs both the Peterborough and National averages in phonics - a trend that has continued despite significantly increased cohort sizes in the past few years.

Letters and Sounds’ forms the core of the phonics teaching and progression. Jolly Phonics supplements the resources used in the Early Years.  Phonics is taught daily and both Teachers and Teaching Assistants are well trained as phonics has previously been an area of focus for the school.

EYFS Results for 2016

Pupils are deemed to have reached a good level of development at the end of the EYFS (Reception Year) if they have achieved at least the expected level in the early learning goals in the prime areas of learning (personal, social and emotional development; physical development; and communication and language).

Good Level of Development (GLD)59%
* Percentage of pupils reaching the required standard.

National & Local Comparisons

Baseline assessments, which measure chlidren's attainment on entry to our school, show that a large number start school below the levels expected for their age.

However, by the end of their first year at St Michael’s, the number of children who have reached age expectations has been aproximately in line with the Peterborough averages and very close to National averages for the past few years.
